Where everyone belongs

Why should you join Jesus Club - Port Stephens?

Jesus Club is a friendly church-run social activity for adults with intellectual disabilities. With games, music, a Bible talk, and refreshments, it’s a great place to have some fun, make some friends, and meet Jesus.

Jesus Club Port Stephens started in 2025, meeting fortnightly on a Tuesday afternoon. Joining a Jesus Club is a fantastic way to spend time, meet similar people, explore the Bible, and make friends!

We warmly welcome anyone who wants to come to Jesus Club, whether their goal is to learn from the Bible or just enjoy the company of our friendly community.

Our Values:

Uniqueness: All people are lovely, created in God's image. Disability is an aspect of a person’s life, but shouldn’t define them.

Diversity:
All people bring valuable differences; we seek to cater for these gifts and needs.

Love: God loves everyone he has made, and we seek to share Jesus’ love with the world.

Respect: Members of Jesus Club are adults and will be treated with dignity and respect accordingly.

Choice & Control: We seek to provide an environment where people with intellectual disabilities have choices and control.

Who can come along?

Jesus Club is suitable for anyone with an intellectual disability or severe autism. Jesus Club is most appropriate for people with Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, or any similar intellectual disabilities.

We warmly welcome anyone open to learning about Jesus, regardless of religion or cultural background. Carers and families are invited to stay and participate. At this stage, only adults 18+ can attend.

Even if you only want to attend for the friendship and community, anyone with an intellectual disability, their carer, or family are invited to join!

I’ve always liked Jesus Club since I first started, because I’ve made lots of friends and love catching up every couple of weeks
